6/19 - Tuesday Showers Bring Heat Relief

The weather yesterday was steamy! 90+ degrees and humid. Some folks had shady worksites, others did not. Particularly "Rt. 649", working under a house, found the temperature to be just to their liking... Today, the change came in the form in thunder boomers which arrived in mid-afternoon and hit about half the work-sites. After that, the temperature cooled nicely over the evening with a few remaining sprinkles. It is a bummer that the sleeping quarters in the gym are very warm (No A/C) and lack good ventilation systems, so the gym is likely to remain warm for a day or two, even as the weather cools substantially...

Team Report: ============

House: Bobcat
Chore: Bryant & Bryant
Team Color: Light Blue

Yay another year here at ASP and we are having a blast. It’s great to come back and meet up with old friends like Mr. Andrews, an old (old) friend, as well as making new friends. Oh by the way my name is Mo Hawk yea that’s right, the Indian and no I don’t live with Larry and Curly ha-ha-ha-ha. But anyway, I’m part of a group known as the Bobcats (w-r-r-r-r!).

At our worksite, we got right to work and pounced on top of our task. Did I mention that I’m in the bestest crew ever? I have Angelina Bucca, Andrew Webber, and Katie Hollamon. We also have great leaders, Bob Bence and Debbie Wasson. Our job for this week is to build a retaining wall to keep rain and other things from getting under the family’s house. We started by leveling out the dirt on the floor and the side of the wall. But we ran in to ROCK bottom (HAW, HAW, HAW!). Rock after rock after rock. But between Katie and Ange crushing them we got through. Then hopefully we will be putting a dead man in the wall… No-o-o, we didn’t kill anybody to build this wall. We will be using railroad ties to do this and yes they are heavy. Production is slow but we are bee boppin’ along trying to get it done. I look forward to this whole week to spend with friends. Well thank you for listening to my story and I will talk to you all later tootles. - (Bobcat) Mo
