NEWSLETTER!
- The latest edition of The Lamplighter is always available online.
Click
HERE or the link under News to the
left.
PLEASE NOTE!!!! Because of Post Office policy changes
and the snow— we did not get the newsletter mailed. Because address
labels were already placed on them and were divided into zip codes
at the early service. Look for your zip code and they are somewhat
in ABC order within the zip code. Later service attendees will
find them on the back chair in ABC order.
CHURCH PICNIC - Mark your
calendars and join us for a day of fun, food and fellowship. Bev &
Leon Johnson graciously allow local churches to use their beautiful
grounds for church picnics “GRESHAM”. We will be allowed to use
their pool, volleyball net, horseshoes and a small pond for fishing
(catch, if you’re lucky, and release). Your hosts, the Staff/Parish
Relations committee will supply hamburgers, hot dogs, drinks and
all paper products. You will need to bring one of the following:
salad, side dish, or dessert. There are some tables under the
pavilion, but you will need to bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit
on. And don’t forget your swim suit and towel if you’re swimming.
There are bathroom facilities.
Children must be supervised around the pool as it is
a natural landscape made with stone. DIRECTIONS from church:
Take Central Ave (Rt. 214)(east) . Gresham is about 6 miles east of
the church. You will go through lights at the intersection (Rt.
214 & Rt. 2) and again at (Rt. 214 & Muddy Creek Rd). Follow
Central Ave, pass “Camp Letts”. Start looking for a balloon or sign
on your left (The entrance is hard to see) If you get to a vegetable
stand and the American Legion lodge you’ve just missed the entrance.
LATE SERVICE CHANGE IN TIME -
Davidsonville United Methodist Church, located at 819 W. Central
Ave, Davidsonville, MD is moving the 11 a.m. worship time to 10 a.m.

service in our sanctuary where you are surrounded by stained glass
windows and the spirit of the Saints who have gone before us,
singing hymns, hearing organ music, and praying in unison. If you
prefer a more casual service you are invited to join us at 8:30
a.m. Weather permitting, we move this blended service outdoors to
our Green Cathedral located behind the church, with coffee, donuts
and fellowship following the service.

ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING
- is one of United Methodism’s six church wide Special Sundays
with offerings. You can be a beacon of hope in the world through
your offerings to One Great Hour of Sharing. Being a beacon of hope
can include supplying food to famine-stricken people, providing
medicine to an AIDS clinic in Africa and furnishing lumber in
hurricane-devastated areas. Together we can make a difference
through the One Great Hour of Sharing offering. "The One Great Hour
of Sharing offering , provides for those basic needs that make the
rest of UMCOR's work possible." "Without this offering so much of
what UMCOR does to bring hope and healing to the world could not
happen.” By celebrating One Great Hour of Sharing, you help
underwrite UMCOR’s “cost of doing business” so they can keep their
promise that 100% of designated gifts go to specific causes. If you
would like to make a donation you can make a check out to DUMC and
memo it One Great Hour of Sharing, or go online and make a donation
at umcor@gbgm-umc.org

DID YOU KNOW???
- DUMC’s website event calendar
is a very handy way to see all the goings on that are going on here
at DUMC. Calendar events are categorized so when viewing the
calendar you can filter out certain events that may pertain to you.
Computer savvy users can even download this data right into their
cell phone/PDA/or calendar software like Microsoft Outlook. When
viewing the calendar there is a committee selection box on the top
right hand side. Here you can select various committees like Friends
of DUMC, Care & Nurture, Methodist Women, etc. If you want help
using this high-tech feature feel free to contact the webmaster.

of Joe Niemann and we will embark on a bus ministry . On the first

interested in this service please call Joe, 410-956-6506 or the
church office, 410-798-5511. Thank you Joe! It is our hope this will
allow some of our seniors who don’t drive the chance to worship at
church again so if you know of someone who could benefit from this
ministry please call them.
