Goals

  •  To be financially self-sustaining

  •  To use surplus profits for Volunteers In Mission (VIM) programs & the Davidsonville United Methodist Church (DUMC) operating fund

  •  To reach the un-churched or under-churched by example and message

  •  To increase fellowship opportunities within members of the DUMC family

Method

  •  To prepare and sell pulled pork and pulled chicken sandwiches in the front parking lot of DUMC on the 1st Saturday of each month, April through September

  •  To enter and compete in at least two BBQ contests each year

Organizational Meeting

  •  Sign up if interested (by phone or eMail)

  •  A $20 initiation fee will be collected to provide start up funds & team tee-shirt

  •  BBQ year calendar will be set

  •  Finances, menus, logistics will be discussed

Sat., Feb. 23rd 10 am, meeting & planning session
Sat., Mar. 8th 10am bbq prep for Annapolis Bluegrass Coalition (ABC)
Sun., Mar. 9th cooking for ABC and VIM dinner 5:45am - start fire 6:30am – briskets and boston butts into smoker 12:15pm – begin serving
Wed., Mar. 12th Assist VIM with Lenten dinner (boston butts cooked on 3/9)
Fri., Apr. 4th Prep for 1st bbq
Sat., Apr. 5th Pulled pork and chicken @ DUMC
Fri., Apr. 18th & Sat., Apr. 19th - Compete in “Pork in the Park” in Salisbury (Team arrives via “Goldie” on Sat.)
*Fri., May 30th Prep for Strawberry Festival
*Sat., May 31st Strawberry Festival – 1st use of pit chicken bbq cooker
Fri., June 13th Prep for 2nd bbq
Sat., June 14th Pulled pork and chicken @ DUMC
Fri., July 11th Prep for 3rd bbq
Sat., July 12th Pulled pork and chicken @ DUMC
*Fri., Aug. 8th Prep for Peach Festival
*Sat., Aug. 9th Peach Festival – 2nd use of pit chicken bbq cooker
Fri., Sept. 12th Prep for 4th bbq
Sat., Sept. 13th Pulled pork and chicken @ DUMC
*Thurs., Oct. 9th and Fri., Oct. 10th Prep for Harvest Festival & BBQ Bash
*Fri., Oct. 10th Teams arrive – “anything butt” competition, hymn sing
*Sat., Oct. 11th Vendors, DUMC food (3rd use of pit), BBQ judging
