UMW Lecture

The UMW is sponsoring informative lectures once again.  We started this before the pandemic.  We are fortunate to have many experts in their field in our congregation and we wanted to give them a platform to share their knowledge with us.  Please come to Mary Conklin's lecture about her long experience with South Korea, a country that is always in the news.  The U.S. fought a war there in 1950-1953.  We know the Super Bowl is in the evening so you can be informed at 1 PM and enjoy football at 6 PM.  Light refreshments will be served.

“South Korea is a fascinating country, as it reflects its Buddhist roots and is a showcase for economic development. To understand present-day Korea, one must look at its history for clues. To describe Korea, its evolving nature must be acknowledged. In the eight years since I was last in Korea, I was surprised by all the changes– fashion, technology, economic prosperity, and food! I will talk about the changes I have witnessed in the 30 years I have traveled back and forth to Korea! I have made over 20 trips to Korea in the past 30 years. Pictures will accompany the presentation. “ - Mary Conklin
