The Missions & Ministries Board, in conjunction with our Worship & Evangelism Committees, have been hard at work developing a new process to help ensure that everyone’s prayers, joys, and concerns can be appropriately heard, shared, and prayed over each week — both during worship and behind the scenes through our Prayer Teams and pastoral care ministries.
We have started a new Prayer Request (Joys & Concerns) system.
Click on the link below, and it will take you to an easy Google form, that allows anyone and everyone to submit prayer requests throughout the week. The form also includes options such as:
whether the prayer is ongoing
whether you would like a follow-up from a Prayer Team member or the pastor
whether you would like the request shared publicly during worship or included in the bulletin
and other important details you may wish to share
and etc...
On Sunday mornings, one of our Prayer Team members will also be present in the rear of our worship space at our new “Prayer Station,” which will include a tablet where worshippers may manually submit prayer requests before worship begins, if they did not have an opportunity to do so during the week.
During the “Prayers of the People” portion of worship, the pastor will read the submitted prayers aloud. If you would like to be recognized as the person who submitted that particular prayer, you are invited to stand as it is being read. If you feel led to elaborate briefly, you may also raise your hand and do so during that time of prayer together.
We believe this new system is a meaningful way to:
honor everyone’s time on Sunday mornings
preserve the natural flow of worship
recognize the work of the Holy Spirit throughout the week and in worship
and ensure that every prayer is lifted up in a grace-filled and graceful way
If you have any questions, please contact the church office at 410-798-5511 or dumcoffice@dumc.net, or speak with one of our Prayer Team members on Sunday morning.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” — Philippians 4:6
